Travis Head reveals India not his favourite opponent: ‘They are difficult’

Australia batter Travis Head has revealed in his latest interview that India is not his favourite opponent to play against. Head, who had done exceptionally well against Rohit Sharma’s team in the 2023 season is gearing up for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, set to start in late November.
The batter, who opens in the white-ball format and plays predominantly as a middle-order specialist in Tests would hope to continue his rich vein of form against the Indian side. Travis Head has been the key difference between the two sides in the World Test Championship Final and the ODI World Cup Final, both played in 2023. Head scored centuries in both games, helping Australia to two ICC titles against India.
Speaking ahead of the BGT on Star Sports, Head said that it was incredibly tough to play against India. Head said that he never lacked motivation to play against the Indian team because the competitions were always fierce.
“I don’t feel like they’re my favourite. I just feel like we play them enough, play them lots. And, I guess the last couple of years I’ve been in nice form. So yeah, being able to, to play well, it’s always nice. It’s a, I guess it’s not hard to get up for the contest. It’s hugely competitive. Yeah, it’s easier to get up for the game. So I wouldn’t say they’re my favourite. They’re extremely difficult but it’s been nice to play well in a couple of games and looking forward to preparing well and being ready to go and let’s look, hope hopefully I can, I can contribute to what’s a successful summer for us,” Head said on Star Sports.
Travis Head is currently going through his T20I assignments with Australia. After a successful series sweep against Scotland, Head was influential in the first T20I against England as well. The left-hander will be hoping for a strong show against India in the BGT after losing the T20 World Cup semi-final against Rohit Sharma’s team.
